This method gets the maximum number of alternates that should be generated for the specified CFG rule.
HRESULT GetMaxAlternates( SPRULEHANDLE hRule, ULONG* pulNumAlts);
Parameters
- hRule
[in] Handle to the rule to check. - pulNumAlts
[out] Pointer to the maximum number of alternates for the rule.
Return Values
The following table shows the possible return values.

| S_OK | Function completed successfully. |
| E_POINTER | pulNumAlts is invalid or bad. |
| FAILED(hr) | Appropriate error message. |
