Determines whether the SqlGeometry instance is well-formed.
Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Types
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.Types (in Microsoft.SqlServer.Types.dll)
Syntax
'Declaration
<SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic := True, IsPrecise := False)> _
Public Function STIsValid As SqlBoolean
'Usage
Dim instance As SqlGeometry
Dim returnValue As SqlBoolean
returnValue = instance.STIsValid()
[SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic = true, IsPrecise = false)]
public SqlBoolean STIsValid()
[SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic = true, IsPrecise = false)]
public:
SqlBoolean STIsValid()
[<SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic = true, IsPrecise = false)>]
member STIsValid : unit -> SqlBoolean
public function STIsValid() : SqlBoolean
Return Value
Type: System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlBoolean
Returns true if a SqlGeometry instance is well-formed, based on its Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) type. Returns false if a SqlGeometry instance is not well-formed.
Remarks
The OGC type of a SqlGeometry instance can be determined by invoking STGeometryType.
SQL Server produces only valid SqlGeometry instances, but allows for the storage and retrieval of invalid instances. A valid instance that represents the same point set of any invalid instance can be retrieved using the MakeValid method.
