Desktop unable to read any external hard drive / USB drive

I have recently used a external DVD drive while using it, it has proceeded to hang my computer midway when i have tried opening the files in the disc after which i had manually force restarted my PC which affected my PC. After that issue my computer is unable to read my external hard drive that i have used the external hard drive has blinking power but does not show up on my PC nor Device Manager. External DVD drive is able to appear but unable to read the disc again.

Is there a possibility of fixing this issue?

    Hi,

    Open start and search for cmd and right click and run it as administrator and then type the following commands:

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Try disconnect all devices from your PC and restart your PC and try connect the hard disk and see if it works?
