Office Pro Plus 2021 Word not responding when formatting documents Windows 11

While trying to format a word document - Portrait to Landscape, word always becomes non responsive. I have to quit word - using task manager.

I can see that I am not the only person having this issue. I use Windows 11, various forums show that this is not uncommon, yet the techie person seems to always blame the end user - and none of the solutions seem to work.

I have gone through the uninstall and re-install process,, all the updates are up to date, and yet, this still keeps happening.

How can I solve this issue?
