Storage Limit Get Automatically Increased to 6.5 TB automatically

As we understand that, your database storage limits increased automatically to 6.5TB on 30-April-2025, despite having only 20GB of storage used. This increase occurred without any manual action, and you have the autogrow option enabled.

Here are some steps and insights to help investigate the root cause:

• When Autogrow is enabled, Azure will automatically increase the storage limit (max size)—not actual used space—if internal thresholds are hit. This does not mean 6.5 TB of data exists. It means the max size quota was raised to avoid interruption. Ensure that the autogrow settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, misconfigurations or bugs in the autogrow feature can lead to unexpected increases in storage limits. Review the settings and logs to see if there were any anomalies or errors reported.
• Review the storage metrics and logs for any unusual activity around 30-April-2025. Look for any spikes or patterns that might indicate why the storage limit was increased. This can help identify if there were any large data imports, backups, or other activities that might have triggered the increase.
• You can also set storage alerts using Azure Monitor to trigger alerts when storage quota or usage increases.
• Review logs and workload on 30-April-2025, Check if large operations, ETL jobs, or maintenance tasks ran. Also, Review Query Performance Logs.
• Check and validate server parameters such as innodb_log_file_size, binlog_expire_logs_seconds, tmp_table_size, max_heap_table_size, innodb_undo_log_truncate, innodb_undo_tablespaces. These can influence disk usage without being visible in table data.

I have checked the logs and other metrics but did not found any kind of unusual spikes.
Is it possible to set storage back to 100 GB (original size) without recreation of database ?
