After signing in to the Azure portal and activating the sandbox, you can start creating a virtual machine. Click 'Create a virtual machine' to open the Basics tab, as shown in the image below.The Basics tab will appear in the top header section once you start creating the virtual machine. From there, you can continue with the steps listed in the exercise table.
