Failed to update the SQL server 2019 CU27+GDR with KB5040948

Dear All,

Currently I'm facing and issues of applying SQL server 2019 CU as below:

Summary the Step:  1. Unable to open the file installer of KB5040948, as below:

The below are the error logs in Setup Bootstrap log:

Overall summary: Final result: The patch installer has failed to update the shared features. To determine the reason for failure, review the log files. Exit code (Decimal): -2146233088 Exit facility code: 19 Exit error code: 5376 Exit message: Failed to retrieve data for this request. 2. Run repair the SQL server instance based on Microsoft docs, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/database-engine/install/windows/restore-missing-windows-installer-cache-files

3. During repair there is a failure message in WMI service

while in UAT environment not facing this kind of issues and after repairing it working as expected.

• Current SQL Version: Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (RTM-CU18) (KB5017593) Enterprise Edition - Patch version: KB5040948 - Cumulative Update 27+GDR for SQL Server 2019 - Current Windows Version: Windows Server 2019 Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.2114)
• Current Server: Running on Virtual Machine 
• Configuration SQL server: Using SQL server AlwayOn 3 Nodes with WFSC server.
