File Detail during Failed Azure Backup Restore

We need a list of files and the directories where they were restored in a recent restore operation. The operation was a "Restore Share" operation. The activity logs only seem to indicate that a job was started. Unfortunately, this job failed with error 1073871825 so we need to know which files were restored.

    Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

    By default.,

    1. There is no built-in automatic file list generated.
    2. You must manually check the destination file share where you targeted the restore.
    3. Use "last modified" timestamps or compare to previous backup snapshots if available.

Pls try manually inspecting the restore destination share (or a "restored" folder created during restore, if you chose "Restore to Alternate Location"). If auditing is enabled on the storage account or the file share (like storage analytics logging), you could try to pull read/write operations logs for that time period, but it is painful and not very reliable unless pre-enabled.

Going forward always as a best practice, Enable Diagnostics Logs for your Recovery Services Vault. Set it to log BackupReports and BackupJobLogs into a Log Analytics workspace. For filelevel tracking, you may need to script restores yourself via azure PowerShell/CLI with verbose logging.

    Hello Vinodh247,

Have you had a chance to review the Vinodh247 solution.?

Additionally, building on the points mentioned earlier, based on the error code 1073871825, please refer to the following root cause and its solution.

Root Cause: The file share under the storage account is already protected with another Recovery Services vault.

    Validation:

Use following script to check if a storage account is registered to some vault in the subscription

    Solution:

If the script shows that the Azure File Share is protected under another Recovery Services Vault, go to that vault and unregister the storage account. Steps to remove AzFS from RSV here

Kindly confirm if the provided solution resolves your issue. I look forward to your valuable feedback.

    Thanks
