Need clarification on the costs associated with this feature, specifically regarding storage costs and alerting. Since an existing Fabric instance is being used, how should that be factored into the overall pricing? Assistance is needed to estimate the rough costs for utilizing these features.

The Azure Database Watcher feature (Preview) incurs costs based on its individual components. Here's a breakdown of the pricing:

Watchers and Dashboards: These are free of charge.
Azure Data Explorer Cluster: Pricing depends on the cluster SKU, which is determined by the number of monitoring targets and the query workload. You can refer to Azure Data Explorer pricing details for more information.
Real-Time Analytics in Microsoft Fabric: This is included in the Power BI Premium workspace consumption model and is billed per use.
Azure Key Vault: Costs are incurred if you use optional SQL authentication instead of the default Microsoft Entra authentication. Pricing details can be found here.
Azure Network Bandwidth: Costs are not incurred if the watcher, its targets, and its data store are deployed in the same Azure region. Otherwise, standard bandwidth charges apply.
Alerts: Database watcher uses Log Alerts, and the cost depends on the number of alert rules, the number of SQL targets generating alerts, and the evaluation frequency. Pricing details are available here.

When using real-time analytics in Microsoft Fabric, billing is based on usage. What does this look like in practice? Can we rely on the Azure Data Explorer pricing guidelines to estimate costs for the Microsoft Fabric offering?

For logs, it can be difficult to predict the volume of data and the number of devices generating it. Is it possible to come up with a rough estimate of the logging costs if we use the basic, out-of-the-box Database Watcher monitoring for, say, 100 Azure SQL databases?

Additionally, are there any reports or views available that would allow us to track and monitor our Database Watcher spend over time?

For logging costs, estimating for 100 Azure SQL databases depends on factors like log volume and retention policies. A rough estimate can be made using Azure Monitor pricing guidelines.
