This means that the database has hit the maximum number of concurrent connections (requests) allowed for that specific database.

Premium tier (125 eDTUs), the database typically supports up to 50 concurrent requests (connections). However, in your case, it's showing a limit of 40 concurrent connections, which may suggest either.

• A specific configuration or limitation in your pool setup.
• Azure updates that have made adjustments to the limit for your specific pool configuration or region This is generally concurrent connections rather than requests, which could be different depending on your database’s workload. The Reason it showing 40 connections might be:
• Specific regional settings for your database or elastic pool, where Microsoft might impose a slightly lower limit for certain configurations or regions.
• The effective limit could be higher in certain scenarios, especially with larger or different configurations of elastic pools. For Premium tiers, limits can vary based on your exact settings.

There are several strategies you can take to mitigate or resolve this issue:

1. If your database is hitting the connection limit consistently, consider scaling up your Elastic Pool to a higher eDTU tier or changing the pool's configuration. This may increase the concurrent connection limit.
