If you are the global admin, you can assign yourself the owner role on the subscription. To do this:

    Go https://portal.azure.com

Search for and open “Subscriptions” and click the one you want to be owner

Select Access IAM (Access Control) then go to the “Role assignments” tab, then go to role assignments and Click on + Add > Add role assignment then choose owner from the list and assign to yourself

    See: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/role-based-access-control/role-assignments-portal

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you

    Regards,

    Hi @Indra Bhushan Singh

I understand you have Global Administrator permissions and now want to assign the Owner role to your account. You're asking what steps are required to do this.

The Global Administrator role falls under Microsoft Entra roles and the Owner role is part of Azure RBAC (Role-Based Access Control). These two roles are different and serve distinct purposes.

With the Global Administrator role, you can manage Microsoft Entra ID resources. For a detailed list of what a Global Administrator can do, refer to this documentation: Global Administrator permissions reference

With the Owner role, you can manage resources in Azure. More information is available here: RBAC roles: Owner

To assign yourself the Owner role, you need to elevate access. This allows you to get Owner permissions on the subscriptions and manage all resources within the tenant. Follow the steps in this guide: Elevate access to manage all Azure subscriptions and management groups

Alternatively, if there is already another account with the Owner role, that account can assign the Owner role to you directly Assign roles using the Azure portal

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
