Can we make ASR for replicating VM to specific country?

Azure Site Recovery (ASR) allows you to replicate and recover virtual machines (VMs) between any two Azure regions globally. This means you can perform global disaster recovery, replicating VMs across different continents if needed. However, if you have concerns about data sovereignty, you can choose to limit replication within specific geographic clusters.

What i can see in the documentation is we only can select the region, and can't specific to the country. Am i right?

Yes, we can only replicate our VMs to different regions, not to a specific country.

I already set the ASR to another region, when i checked when we setup the ASR this will make a new virtual network with same ip address space and subnet.

This mean two identical vnet can communicate each other? Example when we do test failover can VM inside source vnet can communicate with the vm test failover in the second vnet?

Apologies for the delay in my response.

Yes, when you set up ASR to another region, it creates a new virtual network with the same IP address space and subnet for the target as the source virtual network.

During a test failover, ASR provisions the same IP addresses for the target VMs if they are not in use. This allows the VMs in the test failover network to retain their original IP addresses, facilitating communication between the source and target VMs. For a full explanation of how Site Recovery handles addressing, review this article.

Know how to Retain IP addresses during failover:

Based on the target you select, Site Recovery automatically creates network mapping between the source and target regions. This mapping ensures that the target network is identical to the source network, with a suffix added to the name of the target network (e.g., contoso-vnet becomes contoso-vnet-asr). So that there would be identical connection between the source and target networks.
