Hi

Can you explain me what is the difference among All Directions, all Frontent IP and All fronteng Ports?

metrics01

metrics02 It seems to me all sections have same type of data. For example

Direction 80: It shows how much HTTP traffic is coming to the load balancer.

Direction 68.158.90.23: It shows how much Traffic is hitting to the load balancer's public IP.

Direction In: It shows how much Traffic is inside the load balancer.

Direction Out: It shows how much traffic Load balancer is sending (outgoing) to the backend VMs.

Are these statements are correct? Please correct me if something is wrong. Also please explain me Frontend IP and Frontend Port portion. Thanks

    Hello HASSAN BIN NASIR DAR,

    Thanks for your question

    Yes most of your assertions are correct.

    Direction “In”: is how much traffic is received by the load balancer, not necessarily inside the load balancer. This includes requests coming from clients to the frontend IP of the load balancer.

    Direction “Out”: your statement is correct but It does not measure all outgoing traffic, only traffic directed to backend resources.

    See:: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/load-balancer/load-balancer-standard-diagnostics

    Hi @HASSAN BIN NASIR DAR

    You need to click on Direction, add a metric (like packet count, Byte count, Allocated SNAT Ports, etc.), then select an aggregation (Count, Min, Max, Sum, etc.). Next, click on apply splitting, and under the values field, select as per your requirement (Direction, Frontend IP, Frontend Port). Finally, mention the limit and values, and refresh.

    Then go to insights of Azure Load Balancer and click on view detailed metrics, you will be able to see the values under Metrics as below:
