GPO to prevent desktop synch

Hi,

I created a Domain and an Active Directory at my office. There are several client PCs, but they got different software installed on them. Because of that, the desktop and taskbar links change order and/or delete themselves and/or arent recognized at all, if someone logs in on different machines. So its a mess and very frustrating for the users.

I want to stop synching desktop and links, so every client PC has its own order and links for the desired software. Is there an option or GPO to get rid of synching desktop and taskbar links? We are not using OneDrive.

I cannot find any working solution on the web, please help.

Greetings

    Hello Ketai Denwa,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

By default, the user's desktop should be not sync, did you configure roaming user profile via user Properties or GPO setting?

If so, you can remove the settings.

For more information about roaming user profile, please read here.

    1. For all users to which you want to assign a roaming user profile, right-click the users and then select Properties.
    2. In the Profile section, select the Profile path: checkbox and then enter the path to the file share where you want to store the user's roaming user profile, followed by %username% (which is automatically replaced with the user name the first time the user signs in). For example: \\fs1.corp.contoso.com\User Profiles$\%username%

Or Computer Configuration, then Policies, then Administrative Templates, then System, and then User Profiles-> Right-click Set roaming profile path for all users logging onto this computer.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,
