This Vulnerability allows attackers to bypass Outlook's protections and open malicious office files. ​​​​​​​If you are running Office 2016 (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions) you are encouraged to apply the available patches.

At this point, there are no known indicators of compromise (IoCs) surrounding exploitation of CVE-2024-21413, and as such, validating specific detections from Microsoft Defender Antivirus is not possible.

Leverage attack surface reduction to harden the environments against this threat. Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management will surface vulnerable devices from this CVE to highlight devices that need to be patched.
