Hello,

I have exhausted all my search. Uninstalled/ReInstalled PXE. Generate different DP certs, to no avail. The only suggestion left to try is to re-install the MP (ref https://www.prajwaldesai.com/configmgr-pxe-error-0x80070490-0x80004005/), which I am somewhat reluctant to do before I can get some suggestions.

My scenario: I have 1 main site (Headquarters) and 3 remote sites. The main SCCM site server sits at HQ. The 3 remote sites only have DPs.

All 3 remote sites now have issue with PXE imaging, except HQ. I can still do PXE to image new computers at HQ.

The SMSPXE.log of all 3 remote sites throw the same error messages.

Unsuccessful in getting MP key information. 80004005.

PXE::MP_InitializeTransport failed; 0x80004005

PXE::MP_LookupDevice failed; 0x80070490

PXE::MP_ReportStatus failed; 0x80070490

PXE Provider failed to process message.

Element not found. (Error: 80070490; Source: Windows)

User's image

My MP is still healthy when I use IE to check the URLs of mplist and mpcert. No error. The fact that I can still PXE from the main site should prove that right?

Instead of removing/reinstalling the MP, can I maybe upgrade CM to 2303 in hopes that somehow it will fix it? My current CM version is 2211 with hotfix rollup KB16643863.

Any inputs are greatly appreciated.

Thank you much!

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

    1,Agree with @Rahul Jindal [MVP] . The issue could be with the communication with the remote sites. Please check if there is any firewall or anti-virus software blocked the communication. We can also try to disable firewall or anti-virus to have a try.

    2,For testing purpose, we can also install a MP on one remote site to have a try.

    Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon

    hi @Simon Ren-MSFT and @Rahul Jindal [MVP]

    Thank you! thank you so much! it was the communication issue. We use Panda AV and firewall. After disabling panda completely on the DPs and the Primary, turning off Defender firewall and AV, remote sites were able to PXE boot again!!!

    The issue is, we don't know what exactly is being block and we cannot keep the firewall/av off forever. Any suggestions on what ports I should look for and open?

    Thank you very much!
