Application Insights intermittently refuses to show operation details and exception counts, especially if the request window timeline is filtered.
I'm finding the frequency of this is increasing and it's really frustrating when I need quick answers to a production issue.
The Edge console shows a series of 401 errors.
It has started to re-occur again. Maybe there is some dead credential that hangs around - regardless it feels like a bug in Azure.

I'm using the UI frequently enough, I don't experience any such issues. Can you start using another browser or reset your cache settings in the browser to default?

I have the same issue when trying to retrieve the app insight data. The issue is intermittent and sometimes I am able to see app insight data. I thought, application insight is the place to look at issues happening in PROD, but this is not helping at all. I am browsing the portal in a private window. When I did a F12 on app insight transaction search page, there are some issues in the console that is attached here.

I was getting these errors until I've turned off add blocker.

Basically, the 401 (Unauthorized) status code indicates that the request has not been applied because it lacks valid authentication credentials for the target resource.
So, it looks like your browser session uses an expired token, or the telemetry (data itself) of app insights is stored in a linked log analytics workspace where you don't have enough permissions.
The issue is this is intermittent. It mostly works, and then, often when the time range is filtered, it stops. That indicates to me that I have adequate permissions.
Makes sense. So, if you have required permissions, check your user session token expiration. In some cases, you can easily fix the session problem by "sign out" and "sign in" + "hard refresh" page capabilities
